Our Coordination Office aims to ensure the integrated management, analysis, and strategic use of institutional data across the university, thereby contributing to the realization of METU's digital transformation goals and fostering a transparent, sustainable, and innovative data ecosystem.

Mission

The mission of the Coordination Office is to contribute to the improvement of institutional processes and the enhancement of performance by collecting, monitoring, and analyzing institutional data in a systematic manner, and by preparing strategy and implementation proposals for senior management based on the outcomes of these analyses.

Vision

To strengthen the culture of data-driven decision-making across all academic and administrative processes of METU, and to establish an integrated and sustainable big data management platform.

Duties and Responsibilities

a. Conducting activities aimed at developing institutional data management policies.

b. Collecting and analyzing institutional data, and preparing evaluation reports.

c. Gathering, preparing, and submitting data requested for various evaluation processes carried out by university ranking and rating systems, as well as by institutions such as the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and TÜBİTAK.

d. Monitoring the methodologies of ranking and evaluation systems, maintaining institutional communication with relevant organizations, attending their meetings on behalf of the university, and preparing analytical evaluation reports based on declared results.

e. Carrying out studies for the measurement and evaluation of the institution's research performance.

f. Participating in analysis and evaluation studies aimed at improving the processes of academic and administrative units in coordination with these units.

g. Within the scope of Institutional Asset Management, supporting analysis activities related to the processes of academic and administrative units; ensuring that institutional assets and activities are recorded and reported electronically; and contributing to the development of system-based applications to enable process automation.

h. Developing recommendations for improving existing process management systems and ensuring interoperability among them.

i. Conducting activities to enhance the institution's level of digital maturity.

j. Ensuring that institutional data and information assets are defined, produced, integrated, and managed in accordance with established standards and methods, while maintaining their quality (accuracy, timeliness, validity, confidentiality, and accessibility) throughout their lifecycle.

k. Managing processes related to institutional data owners, users, stewards, and other stakeholders.

l. Developing strategies and implementation proposals for improving institutional processes and enhancing research performance.

m. Conducting information and awareness-raising activities for internal stakeholders on the effective use and management of institutional and research data.

n. Carrying out supportive activities to increase the visibility of researchers and research data.

o. Developing recommendations to improve the effectiveness of institutional open science and open archive practices.

p. Conducting studies for the development of big data applications.

q. Participating in activities related to the development of institutional research management policies.

r. Monitoring and preparing evaluation reports on activities and scientific studies within the scope of the university's research, innovation, and knowledge transfer activities (BMSKA).

s. Developing proposals, in cooperation with relevant units, to enhance activities within the scope of BMSKA.

t. Contributing to the development of institutional policies related to BMSKA.

u. Supporting and informing commissions, boards, and working groups established to improve institutional performance.

v. Monitoring and analyzing data produced and managed by external institutions and databases related to higher education, and using them to improve institutional processes.
